COMPANY BACKGROUND

Experienced support manager is required for this multinational banking institution, to manage a distributed systems environment consisting of:  MS Windows, MS Exchange, Solaris and Oracle. The incumbent  will be responsible to develop sets of management practices.

 
RESPONSIBILITY
  • Work closely with the head of IBD Systems Operations and the Global IBD Systems Administrators in order to set and support strategy, standards and policies
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the Operations group
  • Work closely with the Infrastructure group to assist with technology transfers and generate operational best practices for each of the technologies that are deployed
  • Manage the support of complex LAN and WAN platforms based on UNIX, or Windows NT
  • Work with the Infrastructure and Applications Development groups to recommend enhancements and upgrades to the installed Infrastructure
  • Work with first level support to categorize and recommend solutions to recurring problems
  • Effectively recommend project staffing with the current staff or proactively obtain outsourced resources in order to deliver solutions
  • Work with outsource vendors in order to provide sufficient resources for operational support
  • Establish relationships with vendor technical staff to improve products and their compatibility with IBD's computing environment
  • Interface with the Operations Project Manager in providing deployment support for new technologies

REQUIREMENTS
  • A degree related to computer science or engineering is desirable
  • Previous experience as a Senior system administrator supporting a large scale networked environment
  • Technologies such as Windows NT, UNIX (Solaris), NT & UNIX Scripting is highly regarded
  • Oracle Databases is a plus
  • Web/Intranet/Internet technologies is required
  • IT operational experience involving the following functional areas:  Distributed systems (UNIX and NT) administration and Relational database operational experience
  • Relevant LAN, WAN, and remote access technologies
  • Project management of a number of concurrent IT implementation efforts
  • Practical experience operating in a global Information Technology environment
  • Managed a team of 10 or more system professionals
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills and significant experience working with global technical teams
